Microsoft Antispyware becomes Windows Defender
Microsoft AntiSpyware (Beta) has been upgraded to Windows Defender Beta 2.
It has an improved user interface and an improved scanning engine that can catch more spyware. We recommend that users upgrade to Windows Defender Beta 2. If you already have MS Antispyware, it will automatically be uninstalled and replaced by Windows Defender.
We strongly advise PC users to have a layered defense against threats on the Internet. This should include several anti-spyware programs, one good anti-virus program, and a strong, two-way firewall. Our recommendations can be found on our page:
We suggest that all users first read the Release Notes and Known Issues before installing, or you may be in for a big surprise if you use P2P applications.

After a little time with Windows Defender, we have a few comments:
Unfortunately, but perhaps predictably, Microsoft has dumbed down their anti-spyware program. The new version has omitted most of the advanced tools that were found in the previous version. Too bad. Some of them were pretty good. Also, Windows Defender did not fair to well in this review: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,1926597,00.asp
