The Gap Narrows

In the last year or so, Windows 7 has reduced the security vulnerabilities of Windows XP by a factor of 5.  That is right, Windows 7 has about one fifth the vulnerabilities of XP.

In the last year or so, the number of malware variants that attacks Mac OS X has increased by approximately a factor of 5.  That’s right.  Snow Leopard has about 5 time more vulnerabilities as it had about a year ago.

Some experts feel that the balance has already tipped in favor of Windows 7.

Automatic SSL Encryption

The Electronic Frontier Foundation has produced a small add-on for Firefox, called “HTTPS Everywhere BETA” that causes Firefox to favor the SSL encrypted version (HTTPS) of a number of popular web sites.   We have tested it and found it works very well for the limited number of sites it supports. But then again, not many sites give you the option of connecting via SSL.
